Dr. Mohammad Kaif is a Professor of Neurosurgery in Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow India. He has over 18 years of post-qualification experience in comprehensive cranial and spinal neurosurgery. His institution is a high-volume tertiary care teaching institution and he has extensive experience in managing complex neurosurgical pathologies with a strong emphasis on clinical outcomes, academic excellence, and evidence-based practice.
Dr. Kaif’s clinical expertise includes skull base surgery, neuro-oncology, complex spine surgery, and endoscopic and minimally invasive neurosurgical techniques. His surgical practice encompasses the management of brain and spinal tumors, skull base lesions, degenerative and traumatic spine disorders, cerebrospinal fluid disorders, and cranial and spinal trauma. He routinely performs high-complexity elective and emergency neurosurgical procedures and works within multidisciplinary teams involving neuro-anesthesia, neuro-critical care, oncology, radiology, and rehabilitation services to deliver comprehensive patient care.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Kaif has a strong academic profile and serves as a Professor of Neurosurgery, actively involved in postgraduate neurosurgical education. He has significant experience in teaching and mentoring neurosurgery residents through structured academic activities, including lectures, case discussions, journal clubs, surgical training, and morbidity and mortality meetings. He has supervised postgraduate theses and clinical research projects and has served as an examiner in postgraduate medical examinations. His academic interests focus on outcomes in skull base surgery, neuro-oncology, spine surgery, and minimally invasive neurosurgical approaches.
Dr. Kaif has contributed to the neurosurgical literature through multiple peer-reviewed publications and has presented his work at national and international scientific meetings. He has also participated in departmental leadership, quality improvement initiatives, and the development of neurosurgical services, while mentoring junior faculty and promoting a culture of academic inquiry and clinical governance.
He has received international clinical exposure through a Visiting Fellowship at the Barrow Neurological Institute, Phoenix, USA, and a Visiting Fellowship at Osaka Metropolitan University, Japan, experiences that have strengthened his interest in adopting global best practices in neurosurgical care, education, and research.
Dr. Kaif’s professional interests include advancing skull base and neuro-oncological surgery, improving surgical outcomes through minimally invasive techniques, and strengthening academic neurosurgery through education and collaborative research.
