Dr. Aysu İyigün Kabakcı is a consultant neurosurgeon from Türkiye and a research scholar at the Indiana University Skull Base Laboratory. She graduated from Gazi University Faculty of Medicine (English Program) and completed her neurosurgery residency at Ankara Etlik City Hospital, a high-volume tertiary referral center where she gained broad experience in cranial, vascular, spinal, and endoscopic procedures.
Her academic interests focus on neuroanatomy, skull base surgery, and microsurgical techniques. She completed a dedicated microneurosurgical fellowship at the Yeditepe University Microneurosurgery Laboratory under the mentorship of Prof. Uğur Türe and Prof. Abuzer Güngör, where she studied white matter anatomy of the intraparietal sulcus and improved her microdissection skills through cadaveric research.
Dr. Kabakcı has presented her work at international meetings including the Rhoton Society, EANS Congress, and the World Young Neurosurgeons Congress, and has contributed to peer-reviewed publications in neurosurgery.
She is committed to an academic career integrating surgical practice, research, and education. Inspired by pioneers of microneurosurgery, her long-term goals include advancing skull base and endoscopic neurosurgery and contributing to innovative technologies such as surgical simulation and multidisciplinary collaboration.
