Giovanni Kozel is a fourth-year medical student at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He has conducted research with the Norman Prince Brain and Spine Institute and the Department of Neurosrugery at Rhode Island Hospital, the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami, the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, the Mission:Brain foundation, and for the Neurosurgical Atlas. His research is focused on the areas of functional neurosurgery (incuding the application of high-intensity focused ultrasound to the treatment of essential tremor and Parkinson's disease) and neuro-oncology, with specific interest in the applications of machine learning and artifiical intelligence to these disciplines and the assessment of patient quality of life.
