Charuta Furey, M.D., is a neurosurgeon-scientist originally from Kingsville, Texas. She earned her B.A. from Harvard College, where she trained in computational genomics with Dr. Stuart Schreiber at the Broad Institute. She completed her M.D. at Yale School of Medicine, where her graduate research focused on identifying genomic drivers of hydrocephalus in the laboratories of Drs. Kristopher Kahle and Rick Lifton. Dr. Furey completed her neurosurgical residency at the Barrow Neurological Institute, where her research examined glioma evolution in the context of early-phase clinical trials under the mentorship of Dr. Nader Sanai at the Ivy Brain Tumor Center. She is currently completing neurosurgical oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas and, upon graduation, will join the Ivy Brain Tumor Center at the Barrow Neurological Institute as an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery.
