Adjunct Professor of Neurosurgery

Susan C. Pannullo, MD, FAANS, FAAN, FCNS is an Adjunct Professor of Neurosurgery at Columbia University (New York, NY) and an Adjunct Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Cornell University (Ithaca, NY). She is a double board-certified neurologist and neurosurgeon with subspecialty expertise in neuro-oncology and stereotactic radiosurgery.
Dr. Pannullo earned her undergraduate degree with honors in Anthropology from Cornell University and her medical degree from Cornell University Medical College. She completed a Medicine internship at Harvard/Beth Israel Medical Center, a Neurology residency at New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center, and Neuro-oncology training as an American Cancer Society Fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She then completed a second residency in Neurological Surgery at New York Hospital/Cornell and Memorial Sloan Kettering, becoming the program’s first female graduate. She is additionally fellowship trained in Academic Leadership, having completed Drexel’s Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Program.
For more than two decades, Dr. Pannullo served as Director of the Neuro-Oncology and Neurosurgical Radiosurgery programs at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell, where she founded and led The New York Brain Tumor Project, directed Neurosurgery Medical Student Education, held research and clinical leadership positions and developed Cornell's MD/MEng degree program. Dr. Pannullo recently joined the clinical staff of Hackensack Meridian/Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where she will perform brain radiosurgery procedures and contribute to the research enterprise at the JSUMC Zap-X Gyroscopic Radiosurgery Center.
Dr. Pannullo’s national leadership roles have included service on the Board of Directors of the National Brain Tumor Society and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. She serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees of The Washington Center in Washington, DC, the largest experiential learning institution of its kind. A dedicated educator and mentor, she received the Robert G. Schwager, MD ’67 Education Scholar Award from Weill Cornell Medicine in 2021. Dr. Pannullo is a Castle Connolly 2026 Top Doctor and has been recognized as one of its “Exceptional Women in Medicine.”
