Hal S. Meltzer, MD is Clinical Professor of Neurosurgery in the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego, recently retired from his position as Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery at West Virginia University/Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute. Growing up in Chicago, Illinois, Dr. Meltzer was graduated with Distinction from the Northwestern University School of Medicine and completed his Neurosurgery Residency at the University of California, San Diego. His areas of clinical expertise include the development of novel surgical techniques in the treatment of craniofacial disorders including minimally invasive endoscopic as well as posterior vault and in situ distraction osteogenesis procedures. Dr. Meltzer currently serves on the AANS Scientific Program Subcommittee representing Pediatric Neurosurgery and at the University of California, San Diego on the Medical School Admissions Committee and the Emeriti Mentor Chancellor's Scholars Program. Dr. Meltzer is especially proud of the many outstanding residents and medical students he has had the privilege to mentor over the past 25 years.
