Dr. Kristine Ravina is a neurosurgery resident at Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic. She is a foreign medical graduate from Riga Stradins University, Riga, Latvia (class of 2015). She has completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in neuroscience at Department of Neurosurgery, Stanford University and nearly three years of research work as a research associate at Neurorestoration Center, Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California with focus on stroke, open vascular, epilepsy surgery and cerebral revascularization. She is an inventor and an author of more than 60 peer-reviewed research papers, numerous national and international conference abstracts and presentations as well as a successful NIH grant and patent applications. She is actively involved in mentoring and supervising pre-medical and medical students and participating in translational collaborative research projects. Outside of work, Dr. Ravina is an outdoors enthusiast passionate about mountaineering, wilderness expeditions, hiking, trail running and paragliding.
