Jeffrey N. Bruce, MD, Edgar M. Housepian Professor of Neurological Surgery at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, serves as Vice Chairman of the Department of Neurological Surgery, Co-Director of the Brain Tumor Center, and Director of the Bartoli Brain Tumor Research Laboratory. He is an internationally recognized leader in neurosurgical oncology and translational brain tumor research, with a career spanning clinical innovation, academic leadership, and scientific discovery.
Dr. Bruce received his undergraduate degree with distinction from the University of Virginia and his medical degree from RutgersāRobert Wood Johnson Medical School, followed by fellowship training at the National Institutes of Health and neurosurgical residency at Columbia University, where he has remained on faculty.
He has authored more than 300 peer-reviewed publications and leads an NIH-funded research program focused on glioblastoma, including immunotherapy, tumor microenvironment biology, and advanced drug delivery systems. His clinical expertise centers on complex brain tumors, particularly skull base, pineal region, and pituitary tumors.
Dr. Bruce has received numerous honors, including the Distinguished Service Award from the Society of University Neurosurgeons, Physician of the Year from CancerCare, and election to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He has held major leadership roles across organized neurosurgery, including Chairman of the American Board of Neurological Surgery and President of the Society of University Neurosurgeons, and serves on multiple editorial boards, including as Associate Editor of the Journal of Neuro-Oncology.
