I am Jose, a 23-year-old seventh-year medical student from Peru, currently completing my internship. I was born in Cuzco and raised in Lima, where my father has been practicing as a neurosurgeon for many years. I have been exposed to neurosurgery for as long as I can remember — from accompanying my dad to his consultations as a toddler to later participating in research and surgeries with him and his team at the hospital. I recently completed both Step 1 and Step 2, and I am now aiming to pursue research and apply to research programs and clinical rotations next year!
