Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine
Crystal Peraza, OMS-II, is a second-year osteopathic medical student at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM), University of North Texas Health Science Center, where she serves as President of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) Medical Student Chapter and President of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS) TCOM Chapter. She earned her B.S. in Neuroscience from The University of Texas at Dallas and is pursuing a career in neurosurgery.
Her work centers on neuromodulation for chronic pain, disparities in neurosurgical access, and outcomes in spine surgery. She has contributed to multiple research projects with abstracts submitted to national conferences, with a focus on bridging clinical outcomes with ethical and systems-level considerations in neurosurgical care.
In parallel, she is engaged in efforts to improve care delivery for Spanish-speaking and underserved populations. As a Spanish Curriculum Representative for the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA), she supports the development of clinically focused medical Spanish training and has participated in international clinical outreach in Guatemala.
She is particularly interested in expanding access to neurosurgical mentorship and training pathways for osteopathic students while advancing equitable access to specialized neurological care.
