Caroline Davies is a medical student at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine. She completed a dedicated research year as a Clinical Research Coordinator I in the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Children’s of Alabama. She holds a Master of Science in Anatomical Sciences with an Anatomy–Research–Pedagogy concentration and a Master of Science in Biomedical and Health Sciences from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin.
Her academic interests center on neurosurgery, translational neuroscience research, and medical education, with particular emphasis on pediatric neurosurgery, neurodevelopmental disorders, and health equity. She is actively involved in anatomy education across the Schools of Medicine, Optometry, and Dentistry, contributing to laboratory teaching and curriculum-integrated instruction. She is the creator of the Virtual Interactive Brain Atlas (VIBA) Study Tool, the Virtual Interactive Brain Atlas for Pathology (VIBA-PATH), the Virtual Anatomy Lab (VAL) website, and the Academic Engagement Student Hub website, which are integrated across multiple health professions curricula and designed to improve accessibility to complex neuroanatomy and neuropathology concepts.
Caroline plans to pursue a career in academic neurosurgery with a focus on education, research, and global health, with the goal of advancing neurosurgical training through innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration.
