Flora Yang is a third-year medical student at the University of Minnesota Medical School, affiliated with the Department of Neurosurgery. She previously worked for three years as an EEG monitoring technician, gaining extensive experience in clinical neurophysiology across inpatient, intensive care, and surgical settings.
Her research uses large clinical datasets and physiologic data to study disparities and decision-making in neurosurgical care, including spine surgery and traumatic brain injury. Through this work, she examines how patient characteristics and structural factors influence surgical evaluation, treatment selection, and downstream outcomes.
