Cristian Aragon Cardonell, BS, is a second year medical student at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. He is the founder and president of the Mission Brain Lubbock Chapter, leading brain-health education and outreach initiatives, including Alzheimer’s and stroke-focused workshops for seniors and families across West Texas. He is also a founding student leader of the LMSA National Neurosurgery Interest Group (NSIG) and serves in neurosurgery-focused student leadership roles, supporting mentorship and specialty exposure for Latino and other underrepresented medical students. In addition, he founded the NeuroResearch Initiative to connect medical students with TTUHSC research laboratories and promote skill-building in neuroresearch and scholarly development. He is actively involved in different research projects, including a preclinical model of Neuropathic Pain under Dr. Neugebauer’s laboratory. He is also involved in pediatric neurosurgery research under the guidance of his mentor, Dr. Laszlo Nagy.
