Associate Professor of Neurosurgery

Ross Puffer, MD is an associate professor of neurosurgery at USUHS and a staff neurosurgeon at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. He is the director of the peripheral nerve program which includes a multi-disciplinary clinic including Orthopedics, PMR, Neurology, Neurosurgery and Plastic/Reconstructive surgery, focusing on treating complex peripheral nerve injuries in wounded warriors and family members. He also works closely with the Brain Trauma Foundation regarding TBI research and guideline development. He completed his residency training at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, as well as a peripheral nerve fellowship with Dr. Robert Spinner at Mayo Clinic. His research interests included peripheral nerve reconstruction, peripheral nerve tumors, and traumatic brain injury.
