She additionally collaborates with the NeuroSpine Nexus group at UTSouthwester and with international teams in Italy and Brazil.
Dr. Buccilli’s dedication to the field has been recognized with prestigious accolades, including the 2023 Association of Women Surgeons DEI Award and the NANS 2026 Diversity and Outreach Committee (DOC) Pipeline Fellowship Grant. Dr. Buccilli also serves as a committee member for the Association of Women Surgeons Publication Committee and the North American Neuromodulation Society's Women in Neuromodulation Commettee.
Before her transition to the United States, Dr. Buccilli excelled academically and clinically in Italy. She graduated from Sapienza University of Rome, ranking within the top 5% of her class and the country. Before and after her graduation, she spent two formative years in the neurosurgery department of the Policlinico Umberto I in Rome. During this period, she actively participated in groundbreaking research on awake surgery for arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) in eloquent brain areas. This early exposure to innovative surgical techniques and patient care set the stage for her subsequent residency training at the University of Ferrara, where she further refined her clinical skills.
Today, as Dr. Buccilli applies for a neurosurgery residency in the United States, she remains steadfast in her dream of dedicating her career to enhancing the quality of life for patients from underserved areas. Through her ongoing research, clinical work, and leadership initiatives, she is committed to bridging the gap between advanced neurosurgical techniques and equitable healthcare delivery. Dr. Buccilli’s journey reflects not only her passion and academic excellence but also a profound dedication to making a lasting, positive impact on the lives of her patients.
