Jorge A. Garcia, M.S. is a medical student at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He conducts research in the Hitti Lab within the Department of Neurological Surgery, where he explores brain network organization, connectivity-based tractography, large-scale network dynamics, and network-level computational modeling. His research also focuses on neuropsychiatric disease, cerebrovascular dysfunction, neurosurgical outcomes following neuromodulation, and cognitive health and dementia across aging. With a background in applied mathematics and physics, including prior work on particle behavior in curved spacetimes, Jorge brings a rigorous, quantitative perspective and principled mathematical frameworks to the study of complex neurological systems. Committed to advancing neuroscience and neurosurgical innovation, Jorge aims to translate clinical and basic research into operative and bedside interventions that restore function and improve patient quality of life.
