PD Dr. med. Mirza Pojskic (born September 2, 1986, in Zenica, Bosnia and
Herzegovina)
graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Sarajevo, in 2011.
From December 2011 to January 2013, he worked at the Department of
Neurosurgery, Zenica Cantonal Hospital (BiH). In January 2013, he joined the
Department of Neurosurgery at the University Hospital Marburg where he completed his neurosurgical residency and
obtained board certification in January 2018 under the mentorship of Prof. Dr.
Christopher Nimsky.
In 2017, he completed his doctoral thesis (Dr. med.) on
the topic of cervical spine reconstruction using expandable implants. Since
2019, he has served as a Senior Neurosurgeon, and in January
2020, he became a subspecialist in neurosurgical intensive care.
Fellow of the European Board of Neurological Surgery
(FEBNS) since June 2019 and a member of the EANS European
neurosurgical specialist examination committee since March 2023. In 2023, he
completed his habilitation at Philipps University Marburg ,
academic title Privatdozent (Assistant Professor).
Since January 2025, he has held the position of Senior Physician and Deputy Head
(geschäftsführender Oberarzt) at the Department of Neurosurgery, University
Hospital Marburg.
He has been a holder of the DWG Master Certificate of the German Society for
Spinal Surgery since 2022 and serves as a member of the Spine Committee of the
WFNS since 2021,
contributing to the development of international guidelines for spinal disorders.
Dr. Pojskic is actively involved in global neurosurgical education. He organized the first
WFNS World Federation of Young Neurosurgeons Congress and Course in
Africa (Ivory Coast, 2022) and contributed to subsequent WFNS educational
initiatives in Bolivia and Congo.
He is Head of the Neurotraumatology Section at the Marburg Neurosurgery Clinic
