    Jan Vargas is a Staff Physician in the Division of Neuroendovascular Surgery at Prisma Health Upstate and an Associate Professor at the South Carolina School of Medicine – Greenville. Interested in the intersection of neurosurgery and technology, Dr. Vargas currently serves as the Associate Editor for Artificial Intelligence for the Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery (JNIS) and has led the South Carolina Association of Neurological Surgeons as President. His clinical and research interests focus on the application of machine learning to clinical practice, acute ischemic stroke, new devices and technologies in the field of cerebrovascular neurosurgery, and the development of AI-driven medical tools. Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Vargas enjoys astrophotography and writing code.
