Dr. Michael J. Alexander is the Vice-Chairman of the Neurosurgery Department at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and the Director of the Neurovascular Center. He is a dual fellowship-trained Cerebrovascular Surgeon and NeuroInterventionalist with over 25 years of clinical experience. He is a former President of the Society of NeuroInteventional Surgery, has published two books and over 170 peer review publications. He has over 20 years of continuous N.I.H. clinical trial funding, having participated in 14 N.I.H. funded clinical trials and 46 clincal trials overall. He was the national principal investigator for the seminal multi-center WEAVE and WOVEN intracranial stent trials which helped change how we approach symptomatic ICAD worldwide. He has been an invited lecturer at meetings in 27 countries over 6 continents. He has extensive experience in the treatment of brain aneurysms with over 2,800 brain aneurysms treated by endovascular or open surgical means, over 1,400 intracranial stents (for intracranial atherosclerotic disease and cerebral aneurysms), and over 900 thrombectomies for acute stroke. He has been the Team Neurosurgeon for the Los Angeles Rams football team for the past 10 years.
